If you find yourself on the Internet a significant amount of time each day, you should familiarize yourself with the online laws that govern the world wide web.  If you work a job that forces you to be on the Internet throughout the course of the day, you may want to look into the online laws associated with your Internet habits.  You do not want to be in a situation where you unknowingly violated the terms of an online law.  The results could be costly.  Most people just use their common sense in order to avoid violating any of the online laws and that usually works for them.  The average Internet user tends to stay on similar website, so chances are rare that they are going to violate an online law; however, if that is not the case, it may be wise to brush up on the terms and conditions of online law.

1.  One of the most important online laws pertains to the notion of Intellectual Property.  It is the Trademark online law.  The Trademark online law states that you can not post Trademark material on your website.  Trademarks that the online law generally refers to are patented logos, slogans, symbols, as well as other words and devices that are used too represent a particular company.  However, most of the legal battles of Trademark violations usually take place as a result of disputes to the legal rights of a particular domain name.

2.  Another of the very important online laws to be aware of is the Copyright online law.  This is one of the other online laws that deals with Intellectual Property.  Copyright online law violations is probably one of the common large cases to surface time and time again.  The Copyright online law states that those that have the copyright entitlements to literary content of a song, book, article, poem, picture, video, audio, etc… are the only ones to post those entities.  Unless otherwise purchased or given legal consent to use, you can not pass that product off as your own.

3.  Patent online law is one of the most important online laws that it is important to educate yourself about.  This is one of the online laws who people that find themselves being fascinated by the new technology pay close attention to.  It is one of the online laws that deals with software protection.  Many are concerned as to the terms and conditions of using the new software programs that they are about to download to their computers.  Likewise, the software engineers are concerned with protecting the rights of their software, and making sure that no one is violating the terms of their patent.

Internet Law

You should be glad to know that there are many things that you may legally say and do on the Internet.  But maybe you are not so glad, that there are many other things that you are not allowed to say and do on the Internet.  The best way to define what these things are is to take a closer look at the Internet laws.  Look at the various Internet laws and determine what the boundaries are.  See what each Internet law legally permits you to do.  Then take a deeper look to see what each Internet law prevents you from doing.  On the average, Internet law violations seem to be quite costly so it is recommended that you avoid defiance at all cost.

1.  One of the Internet laws that you should be advised of is the Internet law of Pornography.  Whether you frequent these pornographic websites in your spare time, like to post pornographic images, or have a small child that you want to keep away from these sites, you should learn about Pornography Internet law.  One of the key components to Pornography Internet law is that there is a distinction between Pornography and Obscenity.  The Internet law states that any instances of Obscenity will be punished.  To sum it up, Obscenity as defined by Internet law is sexual activity that is displayed in an offensive manner, and has no literary value whatsoever.  This is one of the Internet laws that has several layers to it.  This is probably because it is one of the Internet laws that is constantly working to improve to confront any and all issues that pertain to the matter.  This Internet law goes on to say that unless the shield is blocked off, there should be a disclaimer that states that the site that the consumer is about to enter features adult content.  The goal of these Internet laws is to prevent exposure to any explicit content.  Also, all browsers are automatically set to not list these types of websites in your search engine searches, unless otherwise permitted.

2.  Another one of the Internet laws that you should be aware of is the Commercial Speech Internet law.  This is one of the Internet laws that monitors what the commercial businesses have the right to say or do.  You should pay close attention to the commercial Internet laws as well because these Internet laws are instrumental in monitoring what it is that is put out there for you to consume.  The Commercial Speech Internet law says that commercial entities do not have the right to solicit you with any advertisements that contain messages that are knowingly false and misleading.  In certain states, the Commercial Speech Internet law goes on to say that no one is allowed to send mass unsolicited e-mail mailings to people who have not otherwise requested this attempt at advertising.

Privacy Rights

Unfortunately, although you are entitled to a certain level of privacy as granted by Internet law, there are violations of this all the time.  There are people all over the world that prey on violating Internet law.  Defiance of online law is a hobby for some, while for others this is what they do to survive.  Either way, the repercussions of the violations of Internet law can be just as destructive.  Your online habits are constantly being intercepted by predators.  Generally this data is being illegally compiled, then sold to [other] advertisers that will buy these lists.  Generally, at the least, the thieves are able to make away with your Internet browser, e-mail address, and type of computer.  Although online law prohibits this type of activity, one should always use caution and utilize the services of the different Virus Protection Programs and Spyware Tools.  In today’s day and age, even with Internet law, using extreme precaution is always necessary when surfing the web.

1.  In regards to Privacy, the Internet law says that credit card agencies are to take heed to making sure that the information that they consume is taken in confidentiality.  This online law stems from the procedures and permissions of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA).  Online law says that the personal information should never be shared with any other sources for any other reason.  The only way that the online law would permit the disclosure of the information to another source is if there is written consent documenting this request.

2.  The Internet law in regards to Privacy is in the process of developing and strengthening.  As of now, the online law can be found based on the different governing jurisdictions.  You will find that in regards to Privacy, the online law policies are enforced on a case by case basis.  Internet law has a long way to go in obtaining a standard federal policy.  Online law has improved throughout the years, but it still has a long way to go.  One of the reasons why it is difficult to come to a finite consensus in regards to Internet law is because there are a host of new Privacy concerns that seem to arise from month to month.

3.  One of the strongest Privacy Internet law acts that helps define online law is the Electronic Communications Privacy Act (ECPA).  This portion of the online law works to protect the Privacy of your e-mail account.  The Internet law states that at at the time that an e-mail is being transmitted, it is forbidden to intercept the e-mail.  The online law says that it is illegal for anyone to intercept your e-mail messages in this fashion.
